Club members developed an educational exhibit, which includes a map of Johns Island and surrounding areas, reflecting the locations and number of bluebird houses on our Bluebird Trail. \u00a0 This exhibit is displayed in public areas around the community to showcase the bluebird and its habitat and highlight what is needed to attract and protect it. \u00a0 This educates and encourages residents to participate with a bluebird house of their own as we continually track and record new bluebird house locations on the display map. \u00a0<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Certified Back Yard Habitat \u00a0&#8211; MGC<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0strives to have 100 percent participation in the National Wildlife Federation Certified Backyard Habitat Program. \u00a0 All but our newest members are certified and we work with our new members to become certified as soon as possible.<\/span><em style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\"> \u00a0<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">Gardening Therapy for the Elderly &#8211; MGC conducts <\/strong>quarterly workshops for residents of Johns Island Health and Rehabilitation Center. Residents have participated in decorating Noel wreaths for their doors, making bird feeders to hang outside in the atriums, planting seeds to be transplanted and installing the seedlings in raised beds at the center. This summer produced melons and peppers as well as zinnias.<a href=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Jun3-e1538945262725.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1071\" src=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Jun3-e1538945262725.jpg\" alt=\"Jun3\" width=\"267\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wreaths2-e1538944589757.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1067\" src=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wreaths2-e1538944589757.jpg\" alt=\"Wreaths2\" width=\"267\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\">Garden Therapy &#8211; MGC<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"line-height: normal;\"> holds an annual workshop for ages 6-12 at the Johns Island Public Library. The workshop has hands-on activities that promote backyard habitat. Participants made a birdbath from household items, planted seeds to grow native plants and learned how to make a bluebird house. .<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pat-e1538950565942.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1101\" src=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Pat-e1538950565942.jpg\" alt=\"Pat\" width=\"267\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Display1-e1538950362126.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1107\" src=\"http:\/\/magnoliagc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Display1-e1538950362126.jpg\" alt=\"Display1\" width=\"267\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Civic Beautification &#8211; MGC adopted\u00a0<\/strong>five containers to plant and maintain at the Barrier Island Free Medical Clinic on Johns Island. The clinic provides free medical care to eligible residents through volunteer doctors, nurses and support from the community.
